Help and Advice
HOW TO MEASURE:
We know that some people may find bag sizing a little awkward at times and that is why on listings we have put on some size guides to help you understand. Below is a list of general guides for sizing our bags, handy images and references for the terminology used and some recommendations. Most regular bags like our coloured paper bags with twist paper handles are in a nice an easy width x height + depth format, but some others may be a little trickier.
(plastic or paper) – Width X Height
Width X Height
The height is measured to the plastic sealing strip, not the overall height of the bag.
BLOCK BOTTOM BAGS
Width X Height + Depth
Some bags like our coloured paper bags follow this scheme, as well as some paper bags without handles.
IE REFUSE SACKS & CARRIERS
Width X Top Opening X Height
Width is across the bottom of the bag.
Top Opening is the width the bag opens to including the gusset.
Height is to the highest point of the bag excluding external handles, but including punched hole handles.
Gauge/Micron are a measurement of thickness. Gauge is approximately 4x the micron value i.e. 30Mu equates to approximately 120 gauge.
All measurements and quantities are approximate and within recognised industry tolerances (+/- 10%). Occasionally packaging may vary from that displayed in the pictures. The actual product will remain the same.
We always advise you to purchase a thicker/stronger/larger version of the product you require dependent on usage. Whilst care has been taken to show a true representation of colour, there may be a slight difference between colours displayed on screen and the actual products themselves.
Imperial to Metric measurements or vice versa are approximate. Varigauge Carriers are 180/360 gauge. This means that they are 180 gauge at the bottom, increasing to 360 gauge at the top to provide strength around the handle.
